It’s Christmas Time!

Updated: Jun 23, 2020

December 19, 2014

The tree is trimmed, the presents are wrapped and the stockings are hung and I am definitely dreaming of a White Christmas! Since I have moved to Houston, our Christmas has never been white. One day I'm going to have a white Christmas up in Tennessee or North Carolina.

It must be beautiful this time of year!

Although our Christmases are warm the reason for the season never changes. I love decorating and wrapping gifts. I get so excited to see the kids faces light up and the fun of wrapping paper flying all over the floor. But, this time of year makes me a little sad as well…. There is so much emphasis placed on retail. Everyone lines up for days to get the "next big thing", Black Friday brings chaos and craziness…WHY? I have never truly understood the need or the fascination with this. I see where Jesus is pushed out more and more and my heart is saddened so deeply. I can only imagine how it makes my "Daddy" feel. As I type, I am fighting back the tears praying…"lord, please forgive me if I have ever pushed you out of Christmas. You gave so much to be born in a stable and to give your life for me. How could I ever repay you?"

I ponder this and He quietly reminds me of His GRACE! There is nothing I can do to earn it and He gives it freely without hesitation. He gave himself for me because He loves me that much, just as He loves you that much!

As we gather with family and friends this holiday season may we be ever mindful that His Grace is sufficient, His Grace is enough. It's not about the tree, the lights or the presents. It's about a Father that gave His son to be born in a stable (a Humble King), that grew up to give His life for us. This is the gift of CHRISTmas! He is the reason for the season. Oh How He Loves Me and You!

Have a Blessed Christmas and Happy New Year! and…. as always….

Live Out Loud!

Love you-Sherri
